If you have a front loading washing machine, you may place your blanket in a pillow case and tie it tight and wash on gentle cycle. This will protect your fabric from rubbing on the washer.  A top loading washing machine will go out of balance with the heavy weight.

 

Line dry the blanket.  Dryers will beat up the outside of the fabrics and shorten the life of the blanket.
